Pro-North Korean mayor of SeongNam: Lee Jae-Myoung says “If I become the president of South Korea, I will shut down THADD Deployment !”
Chinese Communist state media CCTV reported that Lee Jae-Myung promised to stop the deployment of THADD if elected as 19th president of South Korea.
On March 6th 2017, a reporter from CCTV attended “Conference of Nationwide victims of THAAD deployment” held as part of Lee Jae-Myoung‘s presidential election campaign. The following day, CCTV reported an interview with Lee-Jae Myoung who claimed to stop the deployment of THADD as a promise for presidency of South Korea.
When a reporter from Chinese CCTV asked about the THAAD issue, Lee Jae-myeong said, “It is clear that the THAAD deployment should be reviewed and withdrawn completely because it is not aligned with the national interests of the Republic of Korea.”
When asked by the reporter from Chinese CCTV if he will be shutting down deployment of THADD, the 19th presidential candidate of republic of South Korea Lee replied “Yes, surely”.
On the other side of the leftist political spectrum, the conservatives and security experts argued that a former lawyer Lee Jae-Myoung lacks the proper knowledge to make a judgement referring to his claim that “THADD as a defense mechanism is useless when it comes North Korea’s missile systems”.
Chinese CCTV reported about two minutes of interviews with the mayor Lee Jae-Myoung and attendees at the “Conference of Nationwide victims of THAAD deployment using Chinese subtitles. On the 7th, the state media reported four times during the same day.
